Love at first sight! A pure home designed by an Italian architect.
Located in Rosa, Italy, this residence was designed by Didonè Comacchio Architects. It has a floor area of 350 square meters and was completed in 2025.

The overall concept revolves around a horizontally extended “slab” that serves as both the building’s base and cleverly separates the interior spaces from the external environment through green courtyards and brick walls of varying permeability.

Above that, two volumes form the building’s upper structure: the larger section houses the bedroom area, while the smaller volume surrounds the rooftop sun terrace and is directly connected to the bedrooms.

The material selection is restrained yet precise. The main structure features smooth, exposed gray concrete, while the underlying framework is filled with large-format light-colored bricks. The nearly dry-stacked construction technique lends the facade a light and airy quality, punctuated by openings framed with dark-colored metal elements. The window frame design highlights only the operable sections, emphasizing both the functionality and simplicity of the facade.

The purity of materials continues indoors. Polished concrete is used for the suspended wall of the staircase, with aggregates subtly visible beneath the surface. The walnut wood flooring, paired with wide-format wood paneling and sliding doors, creates a warm and harmonious contrast, further enhancing the calmness and rich texture of the gray walls.

The core of the design lies in the visual transparency and interactive relationships among spaces. Whether it’s the view between the kitchen and the north-facing courtyard, or the seamless connection between the east-side porch and the central courtyard, these elements allow the line of sight to flow naturally between different areas.

The two green courtyards not only regulate light and climate but also strike a balance between privacy and openness, ultimately achieving a seamless integration of architecture and nature and fostering harmony between rationality and warmth.
