Located in a forest in Chile, this project aims to create an introspective space deeply connected to nature. The design challenge lies in balancing the lush natural landscape with everyday living areas. Given that the environment here has previously been damaged, The design addresses this issue by minimizing land use and preserving the natural state of most of the land, thereby striking a balance between residential development and the conservation of forest biodiversity.
The house is arranged around two large porches, which frame multiple indoor spaces—or "boxes"—each serving distinct functions such as the kitchen, bathroom, office, and laundry room. In contrast, The porch serves as a space for rest and recreation, featuring areas like the living room, dining room, barbecue zone, family activity room, and bedrooms—thus creating a dual structure that balances functionality with leisure. By incorporating Chile's traditional porch design, natural light streaming through the trees is allowed to enter the interior, seamlessly integrating the home into its natural surroundings and creating an atmosphere of contemplation and refuge.

The orientation of the house carefully considers the surrounding environment: service areas are situated on the southeast side, sheltered by the forest, which acts as a natural barrier to block afternoon sunlight, enhancing thermal comfort while preserving privacy. Meanwhile, the north and west wings house bedrooms and communal spaces, maximizing natural light and offering expansive forest views, thus fostering a seamless connection between indoor living and the picturesque outdoor landscape.
The materials feature thermally treated wood cladding, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces. The ventilated exterior wall enhances thermal efficiency while protecting the wooden structure. The entire structure has been treated with Cutek wood preservative to enhance its weather resistance. Continuous concrete flooring provides thermal mass, while integrated benches further boost the home's functionality.
