This project involves the regeneration of an aging rural building, transforming it into a modern residence while preserving its original, rustic charm. This farmhouse sits gracefully on a natural slope, nestled within a small residential cluster and directly facing the public road. As you pass through the entrance gate, the house quietly reveals itself—its raw stone facade subtly preserving the building’s historical charm while ensuring privacy for the interior spaces. Just three small, circular windows pierce the stone, brick, and masonry walls, striking the perfect balance between maintaining intimate indoor comfort and bathing the interiors with just the right amount of natural light. Meanwhile, the surrounding greenery forms a serene, natural backdrop, enhancing the sense of tranquility and calm. It’s only when you approach the southeastern corner that the farmhouse gradually unfolds, unveiling its spatial layout and its ongoing dialogue with the landscape—creating a profound sense of openness and deep connection to the surrounding environment.

The project retains the traditional proportions and architectural features, with a focus on expanding the south-side porch into a double-height glass volume. The new porch creates a fan-shaped opening that draws greenery into the view, transforming the living area into a luminous space that seems to breathe alongside the mountains—fostering an ongoing dialogue between indoors and outdoors, as well as between habitation and landscape.

The interior is warm and bright, with oak flooring, travertine tiles, light-colored plaster finishes, and exposed beams that evoke a deep connection to tradition. Natural light streams in through the spacious openings, creating a soft and serene atmosphere, while the porch serves as a vibrant frame, bringing the tranquil beauty of the mountains indoors.

The spatial layout follows a clear and functional logic: the living area unfolds into a single, fluid space with visual continuity to the outdoors, while the upstairs bedrooms maintain a more private and intimate character.
