Carbon Neutrality Focus | Actively and Prudently Promote Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality! China Has Over 6,400 National-Level Green Factories

August 15 is National Ecology Day and marks the 20th anniversary of the concept "Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains Are Invaluable Assets." The National Development and Reform Commission stated that China has established the world's most systematic and comprehensive top-level design and policy system for carbon reduction, formulated implementation plans and support measures across various industries and fields, and is actively and prudently advancing carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
 

The National Development and Reform Commission stated that carbon peak and carbon neutrality are incorporated into the overall layout of ecological civilization construction and the overall economic and social development. Efforts are being accelerated to build a green, low-carbon, and circular economic development system, promote deep adjustment of industrial structure, and comprehensively improve the level of industrial greening. So far, 66 national-level strategic emerging industry clusters, more than 6,400 national-level green factories, and over 490 green industrial parks have been cultivated. By 2024, China's energy consumption per unit of GDP is expected to decrease by 11.6% compared to 2020, equivalent to reducing 1.1 billion tons of carbon dioxide emissions, making it one of the countries with the fastest decline in energy intensity globally.

Zhou Haibing, Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission: China has the world's largest installed capacity of renewable energy power generation and the fastest development speed, continuously maintaining the main position in new installations. Annual production and sales of new energy vehicles in China both exceed 12 million units, ranking first globally for 10 consecutive years, with the stock accounting for more than half of the global total.

Next, China will actively and prudently promote carbon peak and carbon neutrality, establish a new mechanism for the comprehensive transition from dual control of energy consumption to dual control of carbon emissions, formulate comprehensive evaluation and assessment methods and indicator systems for carbon peak and carbon neutrality, build a carbon emission statistical accounting system, and accelerate the establishment and improvement of local carbon assessment, industry carbon control, enterprise carbon management, project carbon evaluation, and product carbon footprint policies and systems. It will effectively control high energy-consuming and high-emission projects, strengthen energy-saving review and management of large-scale projects in key industries, and continuously support enterprises in implementing energy-saving and carbon-reduction transformations.
