Old wood + old tiles + 1000㎡ forest courtyard, a stunning homestay in the cashew orchard
Nha Vuon Dieu by G+ Architects designed and built in 2024, located on the edge of Nam Cat Tien National Park in southern Vietnam. This is a residence that serves both as a private vacation home and a small homestay. The 1000 square meter site had 26 mature cashew trees before construction.

The primary design principle was to protect every tree, avoid damaging the root systems, and minimize intervention in the landscape as much as possible.

The site plan was adjusted multiple times, and a 1:1 physical model was built on site to ensure the layout and scale matched the actual environment.

The final building features sloped roofs, staggered wall heights, and oriented balconies to adapt to the local microclimate. The east balcony is raised to welcome the morning light, while the west side is lowered and shaded by trees to reduce heat.

At the core of the building is a central water pool that not only regulates temperature and enhances biodiversity but also acts as a spatial link between different volumes. The kitchen and dining room were transformed using the original framework, reducing material consumption and preserving the site's historical traces.

The project extensively uses local recycled materials such as reclaimed wood, old clay tiles, unplastered lime plaster, and natural stone to reduce environmental impact and blend into the natural landscape.

Construction was mainly carried out by local craftsmen, including a carpenter from Binh Thuan Province, Vietnam, who played a key role in the wood structure fabrication, ensuring the integrity and beauty of each piece of reclaimed wood.

Six months after completion, the house demonstrates excellent performance: the living environment is comfortable and stable, with almost no pest problems; the garden is flourishing; and the relationship between people and nature remains intimate and harmonious. This is not just a residence but a quiet, pure lifestyle.
