Starting from August 12, China and the United States will continue to suspend the implementation of the 24% reciprocal tariffs for 90 days.

8 On August 12, China and the United States jointly issued the "China-US Stockholm Trade Talks Joint Statement." The US side committed to continue adjusting the tariff measures imposed on Chinese goods (including goods from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macau Special Administrative Region), suspending the implementation of the 24% reciprocal tariffs for another 90 days starting from August 12. China will also continue to suspend the 24% tariffs imposed on US goods and related non-tariff countermeasures for 90 days starting from August 12.

China-US Stockholm Trade Talks Joint Statement


 

The Government of the People's Republic of China ("China") and the Government of the United States of America ("United States")

Recalling the China-US Geneva Trade Talks Joint Statement reached on May 12, 2025 ("Geneva Joint Statement"); and considering the London talks held from June 9 to 10, 2025, and the Stockholm talks held from July 28 to 29, 2025; both sides recall the commitments made under the Geneva Joint Statement and agree to take the following measures before August 12, 2025:


 

1. The United States will continue to amend the implementation of ad valorem tariffs imposed on Chinese goods (including goods from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macau Special Administrative Region) as stipulated in Executive Order No. 14257 dated April 2, 2025, suspending the 24% tariffs again for 90 days starting from August 12, 2025, while retaining the remaining 10% tariffs imposed on these goods under the order.


 

2. China will continue to (a) amend the implementation of ad valorem tariffs imposed on US goods as stipulated in Tax Commission Announcement No. 4 of 2025, suspending the 24% tariffs again for 90 days starting from August 12, 2025, while retaining the remaining 10% tariffs on these goods; and (b) according to the agreement in the Geneva Joint Statement, take or maintain necessary measures to suspend or cancel non-tariff countermeasures against the United States.


 

This joint statement is based on the discussions during the China-US Stockholm Trade Talks. These talks were held under the framework established by the Geneva Joint Statement. The Chinese delegation was led by Vice Premier He Lifeng, and the US delegation was led by Treasury Secretary Scott Bassett and US Trade Representative Jamison Greer.
