Wuhan New Energy Research Institute Building

The Wuhan New Energy Research Institute building is designed with the concept of a calla lily, symbolizing the 'flower of new energy in Wuhan.' The main tower of the building resembles a 'calla lily,' with the remaining part consisting of five leaf-shaped laboratories and a bud-shaped exhibition center. Solar photovoltaic panels are installed on the 'flower plate' on the roof of the calla lily tower; a vertical axis wind turbine is installed in the 'stamen,' forming a wind-solar hybrid and building-integrated system. It is understood that the wind and solar equipment can generate 480,000 kWh of electricity annually, accounting for 14% of the building's electricity consumption. The building has also been selected as one of the 100 global cases for addressing climate change.
