Wuhan New Energy Research Institute Building
This is a low-energy, pollution-free BIPV ecological building that makes rational use of natural resources such as water, wind, and solar energy. Designed with a calla lily as its concept, it symbolizes the "Wuhan New Energy Flower."
It is understood that the Institute's calla lily-shaped building has been in use for 5 years. It is currently the largest green bionic building in China, covering an area of 165 mu (approximately 11 hectares) with a building area of 68,000 square meters. The entire building includes a calla lily-shaped main tower, 5 leaf-shaped laboratories, and a bud-shaped exhibition center. On the "flower disc," solar photovoltaic panels continuously absorb solar energy;
The vertical-axis wind turbine in the "pistil" can generate 480,000 kWh of electricity per year; even in the underground parking lot, an advanced light-guide lighting system is installed, allowing for complete reliance on natural light during the day, saving 50,000 kWh of electricity per year; inside the building, 38% of the water used to flush toilets and irrigate the rooftop garden is rainwater collected by the "flower disc," saving 13 tons of water per day and 4,800 tons per year. This building has received the highest level of the China Green Building Evaluation Standard—the three-star award.
In the sunshine, the "Calla Lily" blossoms in the wind, and the Wuhan New Energy Research Institute building generates over 1,000 kWh of electricity per day.
