People's Daily | Peak summer electricity load hits a new high nationwide
Learned from the National Energy Administration: On July 4, the national maximum electricity load reached 1.465 billion kilowatts, setting a historical high Compared with the end of June, it increased by about 200 million kilowatts, and increased by nearly 150 million kilowatts year-on-year.
Since the beginning of summer, Power grids in Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, and Hubei have hit record highs. Among them, the Jiangsu power grid load exceeded 150 million kilowatts for the first time, with the peak load increasing by nearly 40 million kilowatts compared with the average in spring, and about 90% of the incremental load is for air conditioning and refrigeration.

Currently, the national power supply is generally stable and orderly. According to the forecast of the China Meteorological Administration, from July 4 to 10, the Huang-Huai, Jianghan, and Jiangnan regions will experience persistent high temperatures, with some areas reaching or exceeding the historical extreme values for the same period. It is expected that the electricity load in East and Central China will continue to climb, driving the continued growth of the national electricity load.
In order to actively cope with the peak summer electricity consumption, the State Grid is making every effort to increase power generation and ensure stable supply, actively doing a good job in the grid connection service and operation management of generating units, ensuring that all types of power grids are "connected as much as possible and operated at full capacity"; it will also make full use of the resource allocation capacity of the ultra-high voltage power grid to transmit hydropower from the southwest and wind and photovoltaic power from the northwest to the load centers in central and eastern China for precise support, with cross-regional and cross-provincial power transmission exceeding 200 million kilowatts, making every effort to ensure reliable power supply.
