Xiong'an New Area Lakeside Plug-in Tower

The Lakeside Plug-in Tower is a 480㎡ mixed-use residential space. As a pilot project in Xiong'an New Area, a national "model city" established by the central government, it was jointly developed with the Shenzhen Institute of Building Science, which has long provided solutions for sustainable building design and urban development.

Located 100 kilometers southwest of Beijing, Xiong'an New Area serves as a location to alleviate Beijing's non-capital functions. The new area aims to optimize the urban layout and spatial structure of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and cultivate a new engine for innovation-driven development. To ensure reasonable housing prices, all housing is state-owned and enjoys policy subsidies. Using 100% clean electricity and preserving 10% of the land as permanent basic farmland, the new area is committed to becoming a low-carbon ecological city.

To minimize the building's impact on the site, an elevated design was adopted, placing the structure on distributed concrete pile foundations. The building is raised one floor above ground level, essentially preserving the original topography to allow rainwater to permeate the ground and retaining the existing vegetation, ensuring harmonious coexistence between the building and the natural environment.

The Lakeside Plug-in Tower showcases new practices in prefabricated construction. The elevated design minimizes the building's negative impact on the natural environment, creating harmony with nature, and employs passive design strategies to reduce energy consumption. The prefabricated and modular construction process allows for great flexibility and scalability, adapting to different sites and environments.
