On June 4, reporters learned from Zhichong's transfer center in Zigong that the center began its green energy transformation on March 22 by installing 10,000 photovoltaic panels on the roofs of its five sorting buildings, with a total capacity of 5.8 megawatts. After more than two months of careful preparation and debugging, the project was officially put into use on May 26. This is the first time that the postal and express delivery industry in Zigong has used photovoltaic power generation, injecting strong impetus into the industry's green development.


Reporters learned at the center that photovoltaic power generation utilizes the photovoltaic effect of semiconductor interfaces to directly convert light energy into electricity. When sunlight shines on the photovoltaic panels, the semiconductor materials in the panels absorb photon energy, causing electrons to transition and generate current. This power generation method is clean and pollution-free, and as long as there is sunlight, it can continuously generate electricity. It is a highly potential form of renewable energy utilization.

The photovoltaic power generation system installed by Zhichong's transfer center in Zigong makes full use of the large amount of idle space on the roofs of the sorting buildings. Reporters saw at the scene that the 10,000 photovoltaic panels were neatly arranged, like a blue ocean, continuously converting solar energy into electricity under the sunlight. The center estimates that the installed photovoltaic power generation will generate at least 2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, equivalent to creating a dedicated "green power station" for the transfer center.



For Zhichong's transfer center in Zigong, the commissioning of the photovoltaic power generation project has brought significant economic benefits. "It is estimated that we can save 20,000 to 30,000 yuan in electricity bills per month, which is a considerable amount over a year." The center's head said that this not only reduces the company's operating costs and improves economic efficiency but also enhances the company's competitiveness in the market. In addition, from an environmental perspective, the promotion and use of photovoltaic power generation is of great significance in reducing carbon emissions and protecting the environment. The 2 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy per year is equivalent to reducing the consumption of a large amount of traditional fossil fuels and reducing the emission of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, making a positive contribution to addressing climate change.
