Green Development | Taopu Smart City Creates a Practical Example of Low-Carbon Development—Innovative Application of Photovoltaic Buildings

Taopu Smart City adheres to the goal of building a "demonstration area for the transformation and upgrading of Shanghai's central urban area," coordinating the integration of "ecology, industry, and form," and drawing a new blueprint for integrated urban and industrial development.

During the development and construction process, Taopu Smart City implemented the "Putuo District Carbon Peak Implementation Plan," innovatively adopting Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) technology. Based on geographical and climatic conditions, building functions, and surrounding environment, a comprehensive design was used to install solar photovoltaic arrays on the exterior surfaces of buildings to provide electricity, promoting the transformation of regional building energy and low-carbon development.

The Integration of Photovoltaic Technology in Green Buildings

The Yangtze River Delta Integrated Green Technology Demonstration Building, as a representative project of photovoltaic applications in Taopu Smart City, uses BIPV technology on the building's roof and integrates high-efficiency photovoltaic panels into the building's exterior skin design. This maximizes the use of solar energy while meeting the needs of shading and power generation, creating a benchmark for integrated building photovoltaic applications.

“Photovoltaic +” Applications in Urban Public Facilities

In the low-carbon development demonstration area of Taopu Smart City, in addition to requiring the implementation of building rooftop photovoltaics, photovoltaic technology is further integrated into regional development and construction. Through various application models such as "photovoltaic + transportation" and "photovoltaic + electrical appliances," combined with park green spaces, parking lots, and landscape facilities construction, diversified innovative photovoltaic applications are created to improve the regional clean energy utilization rate.

Photovoltaic Application Lifecycle Management

Taopu Smart City has formed a "Taopu model" based on "development and construction guidelines + full lifecycle management." During the land allocation phase, photovoltaic application requirements are included as one of the allocation conditions. During the project development and construction period, the effective implementation of photovoltaic applications throughout their design, construction, and operation lifecycle is ensured through design scheme approval, engineering implementation supervision, completion acceptance review, and operation data monitoring.

In Taopu Smart City, photovoltaic technology is not only an innovative integration of energy and buildings but also a core driving force for regional transformation. From power generation to energy storage, from data interconnection to intelligent management, photovoltaic technology is becoming a core cornerstone of Taopu Smart City's smart city and low-carbon city construction. In the future, Taopu Smart City will continue to explore new "photovoltaic +" development models, striving to create a new picture of green and low-carbon development.
