Up to 3500%! US Finalizes Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duties on Southeast Asian Solar Panels
According to multiple overseas media reports, US trade officials have finalized the tariff levels on solar cells and photovoltaic modules from Southeast Asia. This is a key step in concluding a year-long trade case. In this case, US manufacturers accused their overseas competitors of flooding the market with unfairly cheap goods.
Anti-dumping and countervailing duties will target solar cells (including components) from Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia. These products were found to benefit from unfair pricing by foreign companies and unfair subsidies provided by their governments to foreign companies.
Imports of solar cells and panels will face anti-dumping duties as high as 271.28%, and countervailing duties of up to 3403.96% for Cambodia, 799.55% for Thailand, 542.64% for Vietnam, and 168.80% for Malaysia, depending on the country of origin.
The US International Trade Commission will make a final ruling on the tariff rates on June 2.
