Zaha Hadid Architects' latest work: A sustainable community as the model for future low-carbon housing!
This is a new waterfront community residential apartment project, The Grove, launched by JMJ Group of Qatar in cooperation with Qetaifan Projects and designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. The project integrates excellent design and sustainability standards.

The Grove comprises 293 one- to four-bedroom apartments, offering residents stunning views of Qatar's Qetaifan Island and the Lusail skyline.

The waterfront promenade, as the heart of the Community, is lined with trees and features local cafes, restaurants, and boutiques, providing residents with a vibrant living experience.

The building facade features a unique geometric concave-convex design, meeting the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) targets with a glass window ratio of less than 50%.

The project uses passive house design and advanced cooling technology to ensure residents and visitors can enjoy outdoor life on the waterfront promenade. Renewable energy powers the building and uses pre-cooled air from the building to lower the temperature of the promenade, enhancing comfort.

To maximize the potential of renewable energy, The Grove integrates shading and low-carbon concrete structures, significantly reducing cooling needs. Photovoltaic panels combined with a highly efficient geothermal heat pump system ensure efficient energy use.

Rainwater harvesting systems and micro-irrigation technology reduce water demand, and photovoltaic "trees" in the promenade provide shade, lighting, and renewable energy while enhancing outdoor comfort.

Interconnected podiums support elevated landscapes, including sheltered walkways, gardens, and infinity pool terraces, offering residents spectacular bay views. A residents' clubhouse, health center, and recreational lounge are directly connected to the elevated landscape.

Each apartment features spacious balconies, providing comfortable outdoor living space where residents can enjoy dining and relaxation.

The Grove is not just a residential project, but an investment in a high-quality lifestyle. The collaboration with SLS Hotels & Residences further enhances the living experience, ensuring owners enjoy first-class property services.

Gianluca Lacanna, Director at Zaha Hadid Architects, said: "We are honored to collaborate with JMJ Properties. The Grove will seamlessly integrate living, leisure, and entertainment spaces, ensuring the comfort of residents and visitors with a unique design using advanced technology."

Juan Ignacio Alaguero, Associate Director, noted: "Innovation is at the heart of Zaha Hadid's design approach. The Grove demonstrates how architecture can be a catalyst for creating vibrant and resilient Communities."
