The Anandaloy project by German architect Anna Heringer in rural Bangladesh is a successful example of sustainable architecture in terms of social and environmental responsibility. This community center and weaving workshop houses a disability treatment center on the ground floor, along with a fair trade textile production workshop for local women. Constructed from rammed earth and bamboo, the building honors local traditional building techniques and materials with its soft curves and textures, reflecting the region's indigenous style. The building recently won the prestigious 2020 Obel Award.
