Green School in Bali, Indonesia, is known for its thoughtfully curated curriculum, extending from early childhood education to high school, emphasizing creativity, art, and ecological responsibility. Founded in 2006 by John and Cynthia Hardy, the school is built around the principles of sustainable architecture and represents a unique approach to education; and now it has a new building. The recently completed arched structure, spearheaded by Elora Hardy of the local design firm Ibuku, provides a new visual symbol for educational architecture and the school's green credentials with its pioneering green bamboo roof. The project aimed to provide a gymnasium for the campus. The arched roof is light and dynamic, imaginative yet robust, almost like a bamboo version of sails in the wind, organic and close to nature. Hardy explains that the key is combining ancient bamboo building traditions with new technologies.
