Saltviga House
🧱 Norwegian South Coast
📖 Architects: Kolman Boye Architects

Originating from an experimental project, Saltviga House is a beautiful wooden house located on the south coast of Norway. It sits nestled in the woodlands, overlooking the sea. Erik Kolman Janouch and Victor Boye Julebäk, founders of the Sweden-based Kolman Boye Architects, explain that the design of Saltviga House embraces a "gentle" philosophy. Its uniqueness lies in its use of offcuts from Dinesen Douglas fir planks. These offcuts are embedded in the roof and exterior walls, resembling the shingles of a traditional cabin. Kolman and Boye drew inspiration from this beautiful material to create a home that is both welcoming and environmentally friendly. Furthermore, each offcut used in this home was inspected and tested to ensure its durability in Norway's harsh weather.
