BIPV Case Sharing: Photovoltaic Curtain Wall of Ezhou SF Flower Lake Airport

The Ezhou SF Flower Lake Airport project in Hubei Province is a demonstration project of four-type airports determined by the Civil Aviation Administration of China and a pilot project for building information reform by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. It is alsothe world's fourth, Asia's largest, and China's only professional cargo hub airport. The airport's design cargo and passenger throughput will reach 2.452 million tons and 1 million passengers respectively in 2025, and 9.08 million tons and 20 million passengers respectively in 2050.

As a national key hub port demonstration project, Ezhou Flower Lake Airport responds to the national carbon peak and carbon neutrality policy requirements, adheres to the development concept of green and low carbon, is supported by key technologies such as green energy saving and clean energy, and takes green building materials, digital construction, and intelligent management as the main line to build a new benchmark for green airports and contribute to the dual carbon goals.

▲ Ezhou Flower Lake Airport terminal and comprehensive business building won the three-star green building certification

With the official operation of Ezhou SF Flower Lake Airport, the phase I photovoltaic curtain wall of the comprehensive building and dormitory building also made a stunning debut. The project is located innearly 6,000 pieces of Longyan cadmium telluride photovoltaic power generation glass building materials of different sizes and different light transmittance were installed on the east, west, and south facades of the comprehensive business building and dormitory building.

The project's exterior wall area is about 40,000㎡, of whichthe photovoltaic curtain wall area is about 6,000㎡.Through clever design layout, under the premise of ensuring building lighting and aesthetics, the photovoltaic installed capacity is maximized to achieve higher power generation.

The project is inlight-transmitting power generation glass is used in the light-transmitting areas of the building facade, which combines aesthetic light transmission effects and photovoltaic power generation capabilities; innon-light-transmitting areas, non-light-transmitting power generation glass is used, perfectly integrating with the building's appearance, while achieving lower investment costs and higher installed power

▲ The photovoltaic power generation glass structure used in the project is TP5+3.2CDTE+TP5+12A+TP6 (tempered LOW-E double silver glass), which has better heat insulation and energy saving effects

Replacing traditional glass with cadmium telluride photovoltaic power generation glass not only achieves the aesthetic effect of building design and better energy-saving effect, but also has very good power generation capacity and investment return rate, successfully helping the comprehensive business building pass the three-star green building certification.
