The project started earlier and is an important demonstration project for the Ministry of Railways to develop roof photovoltaic systems for various railway stations in the future. It was also the photovoltaic building integration project with the largest volume and largest installed power in Hubei Province at that time.

The photovoltaic grid-connected power generation project of Wuhan Railway Station has a power generation capacity of 2.2MW. This project is combined with the main body project of Wuhan Railway Station in the form of BIPV. The project is mainly composed of four parts, namely the solar photovoltaic modules and combiner boxes above the metal roof of the railway station, the inverter, the low-voltage power distribution cabinet and the power cables connecting them below the metal roof of the railway station.

The photovoltaic modules and combiner boxes above the metal roof of the railway station are respectively installed on eight pieces of column-free canopy on the metal roof of the railway station and ten areas on both sides of the central hall, namely five pieces on the south side and five pieces on the north side of the railway station. The photovoltaic grid-connected power generation project of Wuhan Railway Station adopts the currently very mature monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules, the conversion efficiency of the cells is 16.95%, the conversion efficiency of the modules is 14.96%, and the design service life is not less than 25 years.

The successful operation of the project is of great significance to Hubei Province and Wuhan City in terms of energy conservation and environmental protection.
